Ramayana Reading Notes Part A

 Rama Wins Sita

- Main Characters: Rama, Janak, Sita, Vishvamitra

 - The Monarchs, Nobles, and Warriors gathered to fight for Sita's heart

-  talks about the history and lavishness of the bow

- lots of imagery in the setting 
- main plot: Rama bent the bow to win Sita's heart
- This would be easy to tell in my own words because the plot is very simple and short 

- Main characters: Kaikeyi, Dasharatha, Bharata
- Kaikeyi asks her husband to grant her the two wishes he had promised her long ago otherwise she will           drink poison
- he agrees and explains he will never be happy again unless he grants her whatever wish she desires
- her first wish is for her son, Bharata, to be crowned as King
- her second wish is for Rama to be sent into exile
- Dasharatha is very sad and scolds Kaikeyi but knows he must grant the wish
- she reminds him that if he does not grant her wishes she will kill herself
- he was heartbroken and said that while he will grant the wishes he will reject her forever 

- Main Characters: Dasharatha, young boy, mother, father
- Dasharatha was known to suffer a sad death
- while hunting, he strung his bow and accidentally struck a child
- the boy forgives him as he dies in the forest

- Dasharatha tells the parents and brings them to the spot where the child died 
- the parents are devastated and question their purpose in life 
- the father asks Dasharatha to put him out of his misery and kill him too
- while cremating the body of the  boy, the parents step into the flame to die

The Cheetah and the Impala: Week 2 Story

He was getting very frustrated because all of the animals kept hiding from him. He was so hungry, and decided that he needed to devise a plan to trap his prey. When he stumbled upon a group of Hares, the Cheetah approached kindly saying, "Hello, Hares I come in peace! I am here to warn you!" "Warn us about what?" asked the Hares.  "The Lions are coming to kill you! I want to protect you! I can get you out of here quickly!" replied the Cheetah.  "Why should we trust you? You want to eat us!" shouted the Hares.  "I have had a change of heart and I want to protect all who live in the desert." lied the Cheetah.  The Hares were far too dumb to understand the Cheetah's deceit and far too scared to think it over.
